Understanding Foot Health

As time passes, maintaining mobility becomes increasingly vital for a fulfilling life. Often, limitations in movement can be attributed to foot-related issues. Our dedicated Foot Health Practitioner is here to provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and effective treatment for your foot conditions. Foot complaints typically arise from three primary causes: structural abnormalities, exposure to infection, or systemic illness. While certain conditions may be more prevalent than others and vary in terms of treatment complexity, our practitioner will aim to address them all with utmost care and expertise.

FAQs

A Foot Health Practitioner is a highly skilled clinician dedicated to ensuring the optimal health of your feet. By addressing common foot and toenail conditions, they empower you to embrace the lifestyle you desire.

Beyond providing treatments, your Foot Health Practitioner serves as a trusted advisor, offering valuable guidance on crucial topics like footwear selection and hosiery to promote and maintain the well-being of your feet.

It’s no wonder that foot issues tend to arise at some point in our lives. Our feet tirelessly endure daily strains and activity, yet they often remain overlooked when it comes to comprehensive care.

Foot Health Practitioners, Chiropodists and Podiatrists all have important roles in supporting patients with their foot health.

A Foot health practitioner is qualified to diploma level and provides the routine foot care that we need on a regular basis. This can be for toenail trimming, ingrowing toenails, calluses, corns, fungal infections, verrucae, diabetes foot care, etc.

Podiatrists and Chiropodists can diagnose conditions and prescribe medication. They are also trained to deliver specialist treatment when it is needed. Your Foot Health Practitioner can refer you on to a Podiatrist if this is deemed necessary.

Feeling self-conscious about your feet and apprehensive about your upcoming appointment is a common sentiment we encounter at our clinic. We understand your concerns, and we want to assure you that our experienced Foot Health Practitioner is here to support you every step of the way.

A Non-judgmental Approach

Rest assured that our Foot Health Practitioner approaches every patient with empathy and understanding. They have dealt with a wide range of foot problems over many years of practice. You can trust that they will provide care without judgement, fostering an environment where you can feel comfortable and free to discuss your concerns openly.

Providing Reassurance

Our practitioner is adept at creating a calming atmosphere, ensuring your visit is conducted professionally, sensitively, and with the utmost confidentiality. They understand the importance of instilling confidence in their patients, allowing you to relax and trust in their expertise. Your well-being and comfort are paramount throughout your foot care journey.

Embrace the opportunity to address your foot health with a caring professional who prioritises your needs. We’re here to guide you towards healthy, happy feet and help you regain the confidence you deserve.

Your Foot Health Practitioner will take a full medical history and carry out a routine foot assessment. A plan for any presenting foot condition will be shared with you.

At the end of the treatment, advice will be given on how best to care for your feet and the recommended time between appointments.

Appointments typically last between 20 and 30 minutes, dependant on the treatment required.

In advance of your first appointment, you will receive a new patient letter explaining what to expect and what to bring to your first appointment.

This will include bringing a full list of any medication you are currently taking. We ask patients that wear nail polish on their toenails to please remove this prior to your appointment.

Our Foot Health Practitioner is professionally trained, and procedures should not hurt. Sometimes there can be some discomfort during a procedure but great relief is typically experienced following the treatment of the painful area such as an ingrowing toenail. Your Foot Health Practitioner will explain all treatments to you.

Yes, we can. Diabetics need to have their feet checked on a regular basis, especially if they have difficulty checking for themselves. Other health factors mean that you may not notice an injury due to nerve damage or poor eyesight, reaching your feet may become difficult and wounds may be slow to heal due to poor blood supply. Your body may not be able to fight off an infection effectively. Most patients require their toenails cutting and a visual foot check every 6 to 8 weeks.

It is recommended to have an appointment every 6-8 weeks to maintain and monitor the health of your feet.

Your Foot Health Practitioner will advise the recommended time between appointments.

Yes. Our Foot Health Practitioner has public liability insurance & professional indemnity cover.
